Artist\'s Statement:
Mercè Pla

My work is a personal development with imprint its own style or language.

I feel that the Mediterranean Sea has marked my sculptures. In them there is a path from the Greeks to the present, through Modernism. From its architecture and design in Barcelona. Gaudi, Domenech i Montaner, Tapies, etc. ...

These urban landscapes have marked me and my aesthetics; together with my personal experiences have come to shape my sculptures.

I found in the clay as a material, the plasticity and the technical ability that is better adapted for expressing my art.

Their possibilities do you offer direct contact and I generated a sense of connection with the earth and the universe, moments in the creation of my sculptures.

This work continues in constant evolution since my first work. So, each is consecuència of all that preceded it.

One explains the other is a consequence of the previous.

\"Pyramid\" or - \"Mountain\" are works that make sculptures from different modules that adapt each other.

As a family, each module (member) is different, all are required to give to shape to big family in which it becomes.

But these works I have created a need to look inside. Unsettles me to think of this space is trapped away from our eyes.

From sculpture named - \"Principle\" (sculpture closed) as I resolve this concern. Doing the \"Windows\" that allow us to guess this interior. By making them present from the openings I opened the rest of the pieces. In \"Three Windows\" or - \"Duet\" window we can start to see these apertures.

With sculptures most very small baselooking a grand vision and in an attempt to fool the eye of the observer.

\"If I\'m not\" also looking for the balance and beauty inherent to in themselves. But at the same time showing themselves with sincerity and force.

Slowly this work is opening and showing sculptures more opened, through equilibria that sometimes seemingly impossible. \"Tension\" - \"Threesome of the Sardana\"

My works have to be seen from any angle there is no \"one-sided concrete.\"
Through its \"windows\" we pour a dialogue between the work and the viewer. Looking for the observer to find this inner restlessness. And in this search, help you reflect on your own inside.

Lately I\'ve been experimenting with what we find within us.
In this process, full of personal experiences has led me to develop a work that may seem different, but that which is of the same evolution.

I\'m talking about the collection \"Trapped Feelings\" that have a punctual job, full of readings and personal distress as a result of situations.

These are some of the feelings that may be in our interior.

The evolution of work from the collection \"Windows Interior\" is a life journey very exiting for me.
